The 20 Best Bars in Prague

Updated on January 7, 2023 by Mike

Check out my picks for the best bars in Prague. Visiting a bar during your stay is considered one of the best things to do in Prague. All of the bars on this list are either cheap or reasonably priced. This is a very diverse mix of bars, from Bar Restaurants to Late Night bars to Cocktail bars to Sports bars to Micro Brewery bars etc. None of them are tourist traps or rip-offs. Please note that smoking (as of May 2017) is now banned in all bars and restaurants, but is allowed in Beer Gardens and outdoor seating areas.

Klub Ujezd Prague

I have been going to this bar since the first time that I visited Prague in 1998 and I have to say that not a lot has changed with it. It is definitely a bohemian crowd that hangs out here. best bars in prague u sudu prague

This great ‘wine bar’ is one of Prague’s best-kept secrets, despite the fact it is on one of the city’s busiest streets and just a stone’s throw from Wenceslas Square. Hidden behind a deceivingly small exterior is a huge "wine bar" decked out with a retro piano and a table-football room where you can take on enthusiastic locals over a beer.

The medieval cellar downstairs is also pretty impressive, a complex labyrinth of rooms houses a surprising number of tables branching off at different angles. In the cellar, they have many beers on tap. The bar can hold as many as 300 people which looking at the place from the outside you’d never have thought possible. They also have a courtyard garden.

16. The Down Under

Down Under Prague

Down Under's is only a 10-minute walk from Wencelas Square. They claim to be Prague's first Aussie gastropub. To me, they are a gastropub and a sports bar rolled in one. They also have a large kids corner where parents can enjoy a drink while their kids play. I serve tasty bar snacks as well as full meals. Here a large Granbinus beer costs 48 Kc (€1.90) which is very reasonable considering they are so close to the centre.

When Bill Clinton visited Prague in 1996 (as President of the USA), Vaclav Havel (then the President of the Czech Republic) brought him here. Clinton supposedly played the saxophone in the bar.

The food at the Golden Tiger is good (Czech) but the beer is even better. Considering this bar is only a few blocks from the Old Town Square, it is very cheap. A large Pilsner beer only costs 48 Kc (€1.90).
